Badminton Review of 2017-18

Badminton has continued to develop at the College, with eight fixtures across three age groups, all showing promise for the future. Our U19 played four fixtures, beating Langley Park School for Boys with ease, narrowly losing to Tonbridge and losing to the ever-strong Wilson's at home and away. Our U16 faced a similar fate but strong performances from Jenson and Luke will help boost the U19 team next year. Our U14 completed the season undefeated, defeating Trinity School, Croydon with ease.

With the recruitment of our new coach Rob, the path ahead for both the club and team is looking positive. As an ex-national player, the time he has spent with us so far has been reflected in the quality and quantity of badminton played throughout the club in the past few months. With strong Lower School numbers every Thursday after-school, an eager U16 cohort and a strong core U19 team, the team is motivated for success under his coaching.

To conclude this year, on behalf on my fellow captain Charlie Purwar, we would like to thanks all the Year 13s who are leaving the team this year: Korn Suwannarat, Cameron Cunningham, Ryan Fung and James Zhong, wishing them all good luck in their further endeavours. We would also like to wish the rest of the squads every success for next year, and acknowledge those who have played in particular this season: Travis Yip, Luke Cunningham, Rafael Marquez Aguilar, Lunzhi Shi, Bryan Tan, Jensen Tong, Valentino Vrahimis, Jean-Luc Zhu, Matis Hulett and Matthew Gibson.
