On: Tuesday, 25 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

In the second round of the ISFA Boodles Cup, the Dulwich 1st XI travelled to Westminster School. Westminster started strongly scoring early on. Oliver Storey then made a couple of crucial saves to keep the score at 0-1 as Dulwich struggled to find their feet in the game. The game levelled out and both teams cancelled each other out. Just before half time, a stunning strike from the Westminster striker from 25 yards made the score 0-2 at the break.

Dulwich again started poorly and a defensive mishap led to Westminster making their lead 0-3. Dulwich who still had the run of play, then got themselves back into the game with Bruno Ceccolini scoring on his 1st XI debut. Dulwich continued to press to try and get themselves another goal to get back into the game. With ten minutes to go, Alex Buckler headed home from a free kick to raise Dulwich hopes. A final push saw Dulwich continue to find any way to level the game up. With minutes remaining, it was Bruno Ceccolini who found an acute angle fired across the keeper to make it 3-3.

The game then headed into extra time. Westminster again took the lead. But again, Dulwich fought back and it was the man of the match, Ceccolini who bundled the ball home to equalise again. After what can only be described as a end to end, enthralling match, the lottery of penalties was to decided the winner.

Penalties followed a similar fashion to the game. Both Westminster and Dulwich scored 3 and missed 2 of their 5 penalties to take it to sudden death. Both teams scored twice, then both missed, and missed again, so after 9 penalties each, it was 5-5. With Westminster missing, Dulwich had another chance to seal victory, thankfully the penalty went in and Dulwich found there way through to the 3rd round.
