Match Report
Dulwich College 3rd XV vs  Wellington College
On: Saturday, 08 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

3rd XV. 22-12 loss (half time 17-0) won second half 12-5. Tough start after winning 4 of the last 6 games against Wellington. Plenty to work on after yesterday. Second half performance for first 15 mins show just how well we can play. Good, simple try with slick hands seeing Henry Loynes score down left side and then Ben’s excellent solo try with his thinking kick tap and pace to burn through the middle. But, too many wrong decisions in wrong areas of pitch:

We started too slow and let W play

Black ball not effective as support not always there and scrappy for Ben

Ran down same channel back into traffic rather than playing wide

No footwork at breakdown so easy to defend square on where they gang tackled

Kicking game. Too many times we tried to play our way out of 22

Tackles. Not consistent enough

Several players hid first half

W spacing was organised and even, so pitch was made narrow in our attack

But the momentum shift after losing players was huge and you did well to stem the tide.

Good performances from Ethan, Ossian and fine defence from Hakan and the front row especially. General fitness was at decent level.

Injury updates please: Adam Kinirons head knock, Lucas Treip knee, plus any others.

Well done, but we know that was way below where we should be. Please ensure your mates are playing and in FB group as several let the squads down yesterday.
