Match Report
Dulwich College 3rd XI vs  Tonbridge School Boys-U16A
On: Saturday, 09 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

Dulwich shared the spoils with Tonbridge in an exciting encounter where both teams had their spells of dominance.

The first half opened with Tonbridge firmly in control. their willingness to retain the ball in patient build up play seemed to rattle Dulwich, who probably gave the hosts too much respect and stood off, allowing them to dictate the game. Tonbridge took a well-deserved lead on the 25 minute mark and it seemed as though the men in black and blue were going to be in for a long afternoon.

After the restart, Tidy and Kenningham in central midfield began to settle on the ball and Igwilo's tenacity up front began to give the hosts some unsettling moments. Having created a couple of half chances, Dulwich went in to the break with their tails up.

In the second half, the game turned on its head. Igwilo's irrepressible running, tidy link up play and quick feet continued to terrify Tonbridge and a Dulwich break led to a penalty. Ollie Creasey stepped up and despatched the ball to equalise. Another break and an Igwilo pass to release James Lawson led to jubilant scenes as the visitors took a deserved 2-1 lead.

The reamining minutes of the second half were characterised by a passionate response from Tonbridge that met with fierce resistance from the outstanding centre half pairing of Stevens-Cox and Collins. With seconds to go the hosts profited from a lucky ricochet and were able to find an equaliser.

Overall, the result was a fair reflection of an outstanding game of schoolboy football and there were plenty of positives to take from the performance.
