Match Report
Dulwich College U14C vs  Hampton School
On: Saturday, 12 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

A fantastic first performance from the U14Cs, especially considering they were up against strong opposition who had been playing as a team for months. After a bright start to the game Dulwich were unfortunate to fall a goal behind from a rare Hampton counter attack. There was some intricate play on the edge of the box from Dulwich which eventually lead to a shot which lead to a corner. The corner was deflected in the box and then expertly back-heeled on the volley, past the keeper, by Bear Cooke. Again Dulwich were on top after half-time and were rewarded by an unfortunate own goal by Hampton. Into the final 15 minutes a change of formation and possibly a lack of math fitness hampered Dulwich’s efforts and Hampton equalise and took the lead in quick succession. A Dulwich free-kick on the edge of the box seemed like a good chance to snatch a draw but Hampton defended it well and scored another on the counter. A 4 - 2 loss felt harsh at the end of the day but a lot was learnt from a very encouraging start to the season.
